Happy Tuesday!

Today, we were awed by Emma's mom who shared her world travels and wonderful adventures with us.  At the age of 21, as a historical architect, she was on her way to her first dig in Africa!  Mrs. McEdwards spent almost an hour and half with us this morning describing her time in Egypt and Jordan.  She shared her personal experiences and knowledge of ancient civilizations, answering every question that we threw at her.  She left her personal photos with us for the rest of the day to explore at our own leisure.  Thank you so much  for volunteering to come in and speak to the class.  Mrs. McEdwards, we welcome you back anytime!

This afternoon, we continued our exploration of multiplication strategies.  Today, we learned another partial product multiplication strategy that will call box multiplication.

First you break down your numbers into expanded form.  Then you multiply in the grid.

Once you have found the product in each section of the grid, you add all the products together!

After second break, we began preparing for Guided Reading, beginning tomorrow.  We established our reading groups and set the schedule for the next five days of Reading.

I introduced, and read, the selected text to help us with this rotations focus: using evidence from the text and our own ideas to infer character traits.
