Sonam and Nebu from Mirik, India

Schools for Schools, and Sponsoship

Several years ago, my Grade 7 class sponsored two young boys.  We also raised enough money to put a new roof on a school in India.  In addition, we purchased two computers for the school.  The following year, with the wonderful support of Mrs. Hammond, we supplied a school with desks and chairs, and another school with supplies for a special needs classroom. Another year, with Mrs. Hammond as a driving force, we funded a safe water supply to one of the community schools.  Some of the schools we support are built in the poorest squatters villages in the world. Many Admiral teachers and classes participate in fundraising events to help support schools and students in need.  I am so happy to be part of a school with such a big, giving and caring heart!

Sonam and Nebu are the children of refugees from Nepal, living in Mirik, a tea region of India.  Over the years, Admiral school has continued to renew the sponsorship, through Elephant Thoughts, of these two young men to ensure their continued education.  Our two boys have come a long way!  This year, the proceeds from the Halloween dance have gone towards Nebu and Sonam's school uniforms, supplies and fees.  Thank you Admiral for making a difference!

The School...I think that may be the roof we supplied.
